So, I was doing my history homework today. Cool story, right? But no, I was reading a chapter about the Reconstruction Era after the Civil War. And for those who don’t know what that is, that was the time when the US was working to reincorporate the states that seceded before the war. And I was reading a section in the chapter of my textbook on how the southern white males resented the freedom that the blacks now had (big shocker, right?), and it mentioned the birth of the Ku Klux Klan.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I do not condone anything the KKK has done. Ever. But after reading this, I was curious to learn a bit more about them. So I typed in KKK into google, and lo and behold, right underneath the Wikipedia page was the OFFICIAL website of the Klan. Well, you know I had to check it out.
The first page was just a menu directory for the features of the site. I did notice that now the Klan calls themselves “The Knight’s Party.” I’m sure we can look forward to their pasty-white candidate for the 2012 election to compete with Obama. But what I also noticed on this page was the tagline that was the parties “mission” or whatever…
“Bringing a Message of Hope and Deliverance to White Christian America! A Message of Love NOT Hate!”
…I didn’t even fabricate that, it’s verbatim. Something tells me that the Klan is trying a little bit too hard; but they still managed to throw in a nice little message of white supremacy.
After laughing heartily at this, I decided to check out the actual site. Innocent enough. It seemed to be just a normal political party site, and they seemed to be a fairly conservative party, which I assumed. I decided to check out the links on the sidebar, where it had links about their history (some of which was…convieniently…written out) and their views and what not. I was about to go back when a little link caught my eye at the bottom of the “A Special Message” table. Obama Alert. I’m not going to lie, I was a little anxious to see how this one would turn out.
It was worse than I thought. I imagined it would just rag on everything Obama does, masked behind excuses about his “policies” or whatever. There was a little of that, but what else was there is what disturbed me. Several blatantly Anti-Semitic articles, including such gems as “Obama Receives 78% of Jewish Vote” and “Jews Pick up a Record of 45 Seats.” Yeah, I was thinking the same thing you were. I couldn’t even go into detail on the blurbs, I didn’t say on the page long enough to read them. So, I went back to the menu page to see if there was anything else of interest. To my delight there was, the store.
The store was under the name of Ozark Crafts (pretty appropriate I feel). At first it wasn’t too bad, just a lot of jewelry and clothes with the Confederate flag emblazoned on them. I scrolled up and noticed another little sidebar category: “Collectible Ceramic Klan Statues.” Hm…
Wait…WHAT?!? I…fingen…flangen…sputter…what? WITHOUT LIGHTED EYES?
Oh, that’s great…”Terrify your local black man with this lovely hand crafted bigot in full uniform and giving customary Nazi-like salute!”
Needless to say, I was baffled. It was around this time when I had to just stop. This scared the ever-loving crap out of me; I had to turn away. But, if you feel you need to see this disturbingly hilarious abomination, check it out yourself: http://www.kkk.com/
Well, that’s all from me today. I hope you enjoyed my first post, and I hope to put up more interesting finds here later. Peace out, LTAS.

Those tags could probably be pretty badly construed…

Oh my god! Is it inappropriate to give a little statue like that to my black roommate? She hasn’t punched me lately.
